From Mckinnin's journal that he wanted posted

January 16, 2013

All I can say about the MTC, is that its like trying to drink out of a fire hose the first day.. I meet my companion Elder Woolstenhulme (crazy name I know)  He is from around Salt Lake and a great guy..

The MTC is a great place.. HA.  I am learning so much here everyday.  The people here are awesome.  My district has some of the most spiritual strong people I have every met in my life... Some crazy things do happen here though.  One beautiful morning My companion and I walked out of are building just to find the campus turned into a ice rink.  We realized this as we were slipping right on to are backs.. HAha.  Everyone seemed to find out this way.  One girl slipped and knocked herself out.  One elder in my group slipped and landed right on his elbow.  He later found out he broke it.  The whole day was rough...

Last day in the MTC.  You never hear missionary's talk about the MTC, and I would imagine that's manly because compared to the rest of your mission its a blink of a eye time wise..  I have learned a lot about the gospel and the Savior.  I have had incredible teaches and presidencies to help me.  Just a few more hours and I will be in the field..

Anyone want to be my Valentine?  Ha just messing.  I don't have time for that.  I am to busy building the Lords Kingdom and saving souls..  So I got my new comp/trainer.  His name is a lot easier from my last companion.  His name is Elder Rindlisbacher..  from around Salt Lake also.  If anyone can explain to me why the long names come out of the Salt Lake area, please let me know..  HA HA.. He is a great guy and missionary.  I am learning a lot from him and he is always pushing me to do better.  I love it our on the Reservation.. I get a lot of frybead.  I am learning Navajo.  We are living with a member.  His name is Fred Roundy, but we call him Grandpa.  He is 94, but still gets around fine  He makes jewelry for his days and he make beautiful things.  I love staying with him and being out here serving.  No where else I would rather be..

So I have come to learn that your are not on a mission for two years, but rather one very long day..  Since I do the same thing everyday, the days are starting to blind into one.. haha..  This isn't a bad thing though.  I actually like it a lot.  So In the last month, I have:   Ate a fresh killed goat (good stuff), chopped more wood then I can count and committed 2 people to baptism..  That was the best part.  I love then anything the smile on peoples faces when they come to the realization that the gospel is true.  There definitely isn't anything greater I could be doing with my time......

Wrote by Grandma Kathleen Lloyd,

We got to take our Grandson to the MTC today! As Grandparents we feel truly blessed to have done this with our Grandson. We have spent the last 2 days with him as we went to pick him up in Mesquite and go to his setting apart as a full time missionary and then bring him up here and we left this morning to take him to Provo. We loved every minute of it. This is the picture I sent to hid parents just before we dropped him off. He was so excited and ready to be there and we know he will make an awesome missionary!!!!!!! Yes we are starting the long count down but it will bring many blessings and he will grow and learn so much. What a week!!!!!!!!!
